There is one sweet flavour that I take a very particular liking to, a flavour I love infusing in cocktails, water, desserts and main dishes too…berries. From Strawberries and Cranberries to Raspberries and Blackberries…you can never go wrong with the syrup textured juices and staining colours. We have seen it countless times with Strawberry cheese cakes and Blueberry muffins, but the real treat I find is when it’s used to make fresh cocktails. And since I have created a recipe that has stood the test of many a palette, I thought I would finally share the secret to this great summer drink that will rival the ever famous Cosmopolitan

Ideal for those summer nights, paired with cheese snacker breads.

The following recipe is just a guideline, and I find that substituting helps with dealing with the different palettes in a room

Seri-Beri cocktail recipe

  • 50 g Strawberries
  • 100 g Cranberries
  • 1 ltr Soda Water
  • 100 ml Vodka
  • 50 ml Cane
  • 2 tsp castor sugar
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Slices of lime

  • In a liquidizer, add strawberries and rasberries, along with the castor sugar and soda water, liquidize for a minute on high to ensure it is smooth and not chunky. (NB:The Strawberries are for the distinct taste and the raspberries offer a distinct red colour so there is no need for food colouring or butlers red.)
  • Add fresh mint leaves to the mixture in the liquidizer with the 50 ml of Cane. Give it another whiz, whilst adding the 100 ml of vodka to the mixture.
  • Pour into a glass of ice
  • Top of with additional mint leaves and slices of lemon

The thing I love most about this recipe is that it relies on the flavours, colours and textures of the fruits to give it it’s character. From the distinct colour of the raspberries to the sweetness and texture of the strawberries. It’s quick, easy and a tasty delight
